Saving Full Sized Images &
Advanced Image Searching with
Google Images
Many students don't understand the differences in saving images from the web. They simple type what they are looking for in a Google Image Search, right-click on the image and save it somewhere. This is not a good way to save images!
Not all images are the same size, and this procedure above only saves a Thumbnail view. This is a very small size of the image Google displays when you do an image search so many images can be displayed on screen at once.

Have you ever printed out an image you saved in the manner stated above and the image looked terrible? Especially if you tried to print the image larger, like the full-size of the page?
A digital image image is made from pixels and these small thumbnail images have the pixel dimensions in the hundreds place = (100 x 200).
You WANT to find and USE images that have pixel dimensions in the thousands place = (3000 x 2000), not hundreds place for pixels. This will help result in more clear, sharp images for printing and displaying them in presentations.
Let's take a look at the proper way to save the full size image, NOT the thumbnail size and to do an Advanced Image Search (size, color, type, and time)

Advanced Image Searching
Using Advanced Image Search can narrow down the results you get by specifying specific types of photos you want to have shown up when doing a search. Instead of getting everything, you can get more specific results and saving you time when you search as well.
